C.J. Greenfield Park Dog Park

The dog park at C.J. Greenfield Park in Richlands is a fully fenced off-leash enclosure inside a big multi-use sports precinct in Brisbane's southwest. It is a local run rather than a destination park, and that is the appeal: dogs get room to run without the weekend crowds, and owners get easy parking at the door.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fenced with secure double-gate entry and exit points, so dogs can be unclipped as soon as they are through the gates. Brisbane City Council lists the site as an off-leash area open around the clock, and the ground is mostly grassed with scattered trees for shade.

Council rules apply as they do across its dog parks: stay inside with your dog, keep them under effective control, leash and remove any dog that turns aggressive, and carry bags to clean up. Supply on site is not guaranteed, so pack your own. It is worth walking the fence line before you let a dog off, since a gap or loose section is all an eager dog needs.

Worth knowing

Seating inside the enclosure is basic, so a camp chair is a fair backup on longer visits. There are no water stations or agility equipment here either, which keeps the park quiet but means self-sufficiency wins: bring water, especially through a Brisbane summer when the open ground heats up fast.

If your dog wants a longer outing, the wider C.J. Greenfield Park precinct has wide grassed expanses that work well for an on-leash warm-up before you release them in the fenced area.

Getting there and parking

The precinct sits in the block bounded by Freeman Road, Progress Road and Kimberley Street in Richlands, and is quickest off the Logan Motorway. Parking is close to the fenced area. Buses run along Freeman Road, and Richlands train station is a short drive away rather than a comfortable walk in summer.
