Dog Park at Kev Hooper Park

The lead. The Dog Park at Kev Hooper Park is a fully fenced, off-leash enclosure inside a larger creek-side reserve in Inala, open around the clock and handy for a run before or after work. The draw is a secure double-gated space with grass, seating and dog water, all a short drive from the Inala Civic Centre.

The rules. Dogs go off-leash only once inside the fenced area, and must stay under effective voice control the whole time. Keep a lead on you, pick up after your dog (bags and bins are provided, but carry your own as backup), and leash and remove any dog that turns aggressive. The wider reserve runs down to Oxley Creek and includes protected Bushcare planting, so keep dogs out of the revegetation zones near the water.

What's there. The enclosure is securely fenced with a double-gate entry, bench seating for owners, dog drinking water and rubbish bins. Tree cover gives some shade, though it can be patchy in the middle of the day, so bring your own water bowl in summer.

Getting there. The park sits within Kev Hooper Memorial Park and is reached off the local Inala street network near Hyacinth Street. Parking is usually available near the entrance, including an accessible bay, and local bus stops are within walking distance. Nearby with the dogs. Cafes around the Inala Civic Centre, a few minutes away, offer outdoor seating where dogs are generally welcome at footpath tables. For a coffee stop, confirm dog access at the counter first, as dedicated pet-friendly venues in the immediate area are limited.

When to go. Weekday mornings (roughly 6:30 to 8:30) and late afternoons (4:00 to 6:00) are the social peak. For a calmer visit, mid-morning to early afternoon on a weekday gives you the most room. Good for dogs that need a secure fence and steady daily exercise.
