Princess Gardens Off-Leash Area

Princess Gardens is a small neighbourhood park off Hoddle Street, Prahran, between Chapel Street and Williams Road. Its defining feature is a deep grassy bowl, a natural depression that gives high-energy dogs a semi-contained space to run and socialise.

The rules. Dogs can be off-lead in the designated area but must be under control, non-threatening, and you must carry a leash. Keep dogs off the garden beds, playground, and any sports ground while it is in use. Picking up after your dog is mandatory, and bags and bins are provided in the off-lead area.

What's there. The grassy bowl is the main event, ringed by park benches for owners. There are fresh water taps for dogs and waste bins on site.

Getting there. Street parking sits on the surrounding streets, including Hoddle Street and St Edmonds Road. The 72 tram on Malvern Road and the 78 tram on Chapel Street both stop close by, and Prahran Station is within walking distance.

Nearby with the dogs. The area is well set up for a coffee afterwards. Hobba on Malvern Road and Fourth Chapter on High Street both do dog-friendly outdoor seating, and the Terminus Hotel on Chapel Street has a heated pet-friendly patio.

When to go. It is busiest on Sunday mornings and on weekday mornings and late afternoons. For a quieter run, aim for weekend lunchtimes or midweek.
