St Clair Reserve Fenced Dog Park

St Clair Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a fully enclosed, double-gated dog park beside the lake in Port Kennedy, opened by the City of Rockingham in 2022. What sets it apart is a proper split layout: a large all-dog run of roughly 3,200 square metres and a separate 1,000 square metre small-dog enclosure, so little or nervous dogs get a secure space of their own.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-leash inside the enclosures, which stay open around the clock. Both areas are grassed with mulched patches and genuine shade from established trees, and play equipment including tunnels and platforms gives energetic dogs something more than flat lawn. Double-gated entries at each enclosure keep escapes in check, and drinking fountains with dog bowls sit inside. Leave the lead on until you are through the second gate, and carry it with you the whole time.

Worth knowing

There are no bag dispensers on site, so bring your own poo bags. Outside the fenced runs, standard Rockingham leash laws apply to the rest of the reserve, including the lake-edge paths, which suit an on-leash warm-down stroll. The park draws a regular social crowd, and owners tend to keep an eye on rough play, which suits first-timers and dogs still building confidence. There are no public toilets at the reserve itself.

Getting there and parking

The park sits within the Port Kennedy sports complex off Castlereagh Circle and Sheridan Way, with free parking including accessible bays. Transperth services along Warnbro Sound Avenue leave a short walk to the gates. Farmer Jack's on Orleans Drive is a couple of hundred metres away for supplies, and Warnbro Centre is a few minutes north for anything else.

Close by with the dogs

Once the zoomies are done, Warnbro Dog Beach is a short drive west for a swim, and St Raphael Reserve offers another off-leash option if the enclosures are busy.
