Morris Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Morris Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is a community reserve on Brentwood Avenue in Pascoe Vale South, built around a large open grass oval with a sports field at its centre. Dogs are generally off-leash across the reserve, and the steady local crowd has made it one of the more social exercise spots in Merri-bek.

The dog setup

The reserve is not fully fenced, so it works best for dogs with dependable recall. Off-leash applies across the open space provided your dog stays under effective voice or hand control, and you carry a leash at all times.

Two rules matter most here. Dogs must be back on lead within 15 metres of the playground and any picnic or barbecue areas in use, and the sports field is off limits during organised cricket or football and training sessions.

Merri-bek City Council does not supply bags at this reserve, so bring your own and use the bins on site.

Worth knowing

A perimeter gravel path loops the reserve for an easy warm-up walk, and a drinking water tap near the pavilion saves carrying a bowl on hot days. Cricket nets sit along one edge and a separated children's playground keeps families and dogs apart.

Early mornings before 7.30am and mid-week afternoons are the quiet windows. Weekday evenings and weekend mornings draw the crowd, and cricket season fills the oval on Saturdays, pushing everyone onto the surrounding grass.

Max: there is a water tap right by the pavilion, which is handy on a hot day. Just keep the lead on within 15 metres of the playground and stay off the oval when sport is on.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits at 11 Brentwood Avenue, Pascoe Vale South, with free unrestricted street parking on Brentwood Avenue and the surrounding streets.

The 513 bus runs nearby along Cumberland Road, and Pascoe Vale Station on the Craigieburn line is roughly a 15 to 20 minute walk for anyone arriving by train.

While you're out there

Coffee after a run around the oval is easy: Old Faithful Cafe and Parkstone are both dog friendly and close by.
