Brearley Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Brearley Reserve is a Merri-bek off-leash reserve in Pascoe Vale South, on the corner of Lincoln Road and Woodlands Avenue. It is an open, grassy field for running, exercise and socialising, popular with local residents as part of the surrounding green space.

The rules. Dogs may be off-leash under effective voice or hand control. Carry a leash and put it on immediately if your dog threatens, rushes or attacks a person or animal. Dogs must stay 15 metres clear of the playground, be on-lead within 15 metres of sporting grounds, and off the field during organised sport. Bring your own bags, as the council does not supply them here.

What's there. Open grass for running, a drinking fountain, an all-abilities playground (keep dogs 15 metres away) and free street parking on the surrounding streets, including Lincoln Road.

Getting there. Access is via Lincoln Road or Woodlands Avenue, with free on-street parking readily available. The reserve is near local Pascoe Vale South bus routes and connects to neighbourhood pathways, so it also works as a destination on a longer walk.

Nearby with the dogs. Follow a run with coffee at Cactus, Parkstone or Old Faithful Cafe, all dog-friendly nearby.

When to go. Mid-week around midday, roughly 11am to 2pm, is quietest and gives a nervous dog more room. Weekday mornings and evenings and weekend mornings are busiest. The open reserve can get wet through winter, and summer evenings are popular.
