OFF-LEASH DOG PARK FREE COUNCIL PUBLIC

Northgate's council-run off-leash park sits on Nudgee Road next to Northgate Reserve's sporting fields. It is fully fenced, free to use and built for proper off-leash running rather than a quick lead-side stop.

The rules. Dogs must be leashed on the way in and out of the fenced area, then can run off-leash once inside. Keep dogs under control at all times, pick up waste immediately using the bins provided, and remove an aggressive dog straight away. Supervise children closely.

What's there. The area is fully fenced for both large and small dogs, with agility equipment for training, some shaded seating and an unshaded table. Water bowls are usually available, but bring your own on hot days as council supply can be inconsistent.

Getting there. Street parking runs along Nudgee Road, close to the Gateway Motorway exit. It is around 1.5 kilometres from Northgate railway station, so it is a drive or a longer walk rather than a quick train hop. Several bus routes run along Nudgee Road.

Nearby with the dogs. A handful of cafes on Sandgate Road in neighbouring Nundah, about five to seven minutes by car, have dog-friendly outdoor seating. Tuckeroo Park at Nudgee Beach is nearby if you want a tidal foreshore walk to follow the run.

Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are quietest. Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7 to 10am and weekday afternoons from 4:30 to 6pm draw the biggest crowds, so aim either side of those windows if your dog is nervous around other dogs.
