Northgate Off-Leash Dog Park

Northgate's council-run off-leash park sits on Nudgee Road beside the Northgate Reserve sporting fields, fully fenced, free to use and open 24 hours. It is built for genuine off-leash running rather than a lead-side leg stretch, with agility equipment for training sessions.

The dog setup

Dogs stay on lead through the entry and exit, then run free inside the fenced area, which caters to both large and small dogs. Keep your dog under control and within sight at all times, bin waste using the bins provided, leash and remove any dog showing aggression straight away, and supervise children closely.

There is agility gear for structured play, shaded seating for handlers and an unshaded table. Water bowls are usually available but council supply can be inconsistent, so carry your own water on hot days.

Max: fenced, lit by daylight until late, and the agility frame turns a run into a workout. Bring water though, the bowls are a maybe.

Because the park is small and fully enclosed, it works well for puppies learning park manners and older dogs who want to wander rather than sprint. The agility frame adds structure: a few passes over the hurdles and a climb or two tires a dog faster than twenty minutes of chasing. If the sporting fields next door are being watered or line-marked, the footpath around the reserve stays on lead.

Worth knowing

The sporting fields next door host weekend competition, which adds traffic to Nudgee Road on game days but also makes weekday evenings feel calm. The 24-hour access suits shift workers and early risers who want an empty park.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Nudgee Road near the Gateway Motorway exit. Northgate railway station is about 1.5 kilometres away, so it is a drive or a longer walk, and several bus routes run along Nudgee Road.

Close by with the dogs

Boyd Park Fenced Dog Park and Wavell Dog Off-Leash Area are the neighbouring options to the north. For a coffee afterwards, Lilypad Espresso Bar is local, and Piccolo Ristorante covers dinner.
