Eddie Baker Dog Park

Eddie Baker Dog Park is the off-leash area inside Eddie Baker Park in Norman Gardens, a suburban favourite for a quick run and a bit of socialising. It's grassy, partly fenced, and set apart from the children's playground, which keeps things simple for owners with excitable dogs.

The rules. Part of the dog area is fenced, but not all of it, so keep voice control over your dog at all times, especially near the unfenced sections. Owners must stay within the dog park while their dog is off leash. Clean up immediately using the bins provided. Any dog showing aggression needs to be removed straight away.

What's there. Shaded seating and picnic tables for owners, a water source for dogs, and bins for waste. There's a separate covered playground nearby for kids, and gated entry in parts of the park.

Getting there. The park sits within Norman Gardens with street parking around the perimeter. Local bus routes pass through the area, but a car is the easier option for most visitors.

Nearby with the dogs. Rockhampton's cafe scene is a short drive away. The Dock Cafe welcomes leashed dogs on its outdoor seating on weekday mornings, and Coffee Society Rockhampton and Cousins On William are both worth checking if you want to make a morning of it.

When to go. Weekday mornings are calmer and better for shy or reactive dogs, while late afternoons Thursday to Friday and weekends bring bigger crowds. Bring your own water bowl as backup even though one is provided. Good for social dogs that enjoy a busy suburban park rather than dogs that need total seclusion.
