Livin The Bean cafe

Livin The Bean is a small, popular cafe on Frenchville Road, opposite Frenchville State School, known for friendly service, strong coffee and generous plates. Dogs are explicitly welcome at the outdoor seating, and with dog exercise space close by it works well as a coffee stop either side of a walk.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor, footpath-side tables, on lead and settled beside the table. Regulars bring dogs under the table or alongside a pram, and staff are accommodating, generally providing a water bowl on request. It is a small strip, so if the outdoor tables are taken the dog option is gone; mornings are the safest bet.

The cafe is known for its coffee, loaded croissants, toasties and generous lunch portions, with a cosy community feel that keeps locals coming back. Hours are 6:30am to midday, every day of the week, so it is strictly a breakfast-and-lunch stop. It can fill up fast for its size, particularly on weekends.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 223 Frenchville Road, Frenchville, a few minutes north of the Rockhampton city centre. Free street parking is available directly out front and on the adjacent residential streets, and the entry area is wheelchair accessible.

Close by with the dogs

There is dog exercise space close to the cafe for a stretch before or after coffee, and the off-leash dog park at Wandal across town is a proper run. Duthie Park in Frenchville has a council-approved unfenced off-leash area, and the summit Bella Via Cafe in the same suburb is another dog-friendly coffee option nearby.
