Berwick Springs Dog Park

Berwick Springs Dog Park is the fenced off-leash enclosure inside the Berwick Springs Wetland Reserve in Narre Warren South, opened for use in April 2026 once the grass had established. It sits near the reserve's large wooden playground and gives the neighbourhood a proper off-leash option beyond the on-lead wetland paths.

The dog setup

Inside the fence, dogs run off-leash under effective voice control, with multiple gated entry and exit points and a dedicated dog run along one fence line for recall training. The wider wetland reserve, including the lake perimeter paths, stays on lead, and Casey rules keep dogs at least twenty metres from playgrounds and permanent barbecue areas.

Facilities are new and straightforward: a dog drinking fountain, a bin dispenser for waste, seating, and lighting at the entrance for darker winter evenings. As a very new build, expect the grass to still be settling in, so it may be soft or patchy in places for a while yet.

The council consulted the neighbourhood before locking the design in, and the small touches show it: the entrance lighting was a direct request from residents who walk after dark in winter, and the recall run exists so you can proof a shaky return before committing to the open lawn. Locals treat it as the suburb's first proper dog facility, so expect the regulars to be protective of the turf while it knits.

Worth knowing

The wetland setting means birdlife and water on two sides, so dogs with a strong interest in waterbirds should work on recall before they go loose. Weekday mornings are quiet; the playground next door pulls family traffic on weekends.

Getting there and parking

The park is off Beauford Avenue, reached from Grices Road or Berwick-Cranbourne Road, with street parking on Beauford Avenue. It is a car-access reserve; buses along Grices Road are the nearest public transport.

Close by with the dogs

Seebeck Drive Reserve Dog Park is the suburb's other off-leash option, and Ryelands Drive Reserve Dog Park sits over in Berwick. For coffee, Mad Benji in Berwick is known for pet-friendly seating.
