Quota Hideaway Park Dog Off Leash Area

Quota Hideaway Park, on Cootamundra Drive in Mountain Creek, is an all-hours off-leash park with open grass, good shade trees and a waterway at one end. Sunshine Coast Council lists it as off-leash at all times, which is rarer than it sounds, and the setting is prettier than most suburban dog parks: the grass slopes down to the creek, and there is usually enough space that dogs can spread out rather than mob each other at the gate.

Off-leash status

The exercise area is off-leash around the clock, but it is open parkland with no perimeter fence, so your dog needs reliable recall and effective voice control the whole visit. The children's playground is the one fenced zone and dogs stay out of it. Council signage on site carries any temporary restrictions, so give it a glance before unclipping. Bags for waste are provided at times, though carrying your own is the safer habit.

Water and terrain

The ground is open, mostly level grass with mature shade across the park, and benches plus shelters sit around the edges. At the lower end the park meets the water, and plenty of dogs use it for a cool-off; watch the edge and the conditions as you would at any creek, especially after rain. Around the broader parkland there is picnic-friendly space and a path network that suits an on-lead warm-up loop.

Getting there and parking

The park sits off Cootamundra Drive, Mountain Creek, 4557, easiest reached from Kawana Way. Street parking runs along Cootamundra Drive and you walk in from there. It is a few minutes from Sippy Downs and the Sunshine Motorway puts Buderim and Mooloolaba within easy reach.

When to go

Late afternoon is the social peak, when the local dogs come out and the park gets lively; great for a confident, playful dog, busy for a shy one. Early mornings are quieter if you want the space almost to yourself. The park is open around the clock, so night walks on-lead are an option too.
