The Drop Espresso Bar Mountain Creek

The Drop Espresso Bar sits at Shop 2A, 158-170 Karawatha Drive in the Mountain Creek shopping precinct on the Sunshine Coast. It is an early-opening neighbourhood coffee bar with a loyal local crowd, and dogs are welcome at the al fresco tables out front, which makes it an easy stop either side of a walk.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the shaded outdoor seating in front of the cafe; the indoor area is people only. Water bowls are available for visiting dogs, and the bar is known for serving up a puppachino if you ask. Staff are friendly and used to four-legged regulars, so there is no ceremony to it: settle in, order, and the bowl appears.

Worth knowing

Coffee is the draw, backed by a genuinely broad menu: bacon and egg breakfast wraps, toasties and gourmet sandwiches, salads and poke bowls, acai bowls, smoothies and fresh juices, plus pastries and cakes with gluten-free options. Hours run 5:30am to 3pm on weekdays, 6am to 2pm Saturday and 6:30am to 1pm Sunday, so it works for pre-work and post-walk coffee alike. Sundays often bring live music for a more relaxed mood, and takeaway is quick if the tables are full.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in the shopping centre precinct beside Woolworths, with ample free parking in the centre car park directly outside and flat, step-free access to the outdoor tables.

Close by with the dogs

The Mountain Creek Recreational Trail runs through the suburb for an on-lead warm-up, and Brightwater Park Fenced Dog Park is a few minutes away when an off-lead run is on the cards.
