Brightwater Park Fenced Dog Park

Brightwater Park Fenced Dog Park sits on the eastern side of the Brightwater sportsfield in Mountain Creek, and it earns its fenced billing: a fully enclosed off-leash run with a big open grass area and a set of agility obstacles, close to the heart of the Sunshine Coast without the beach crowds. It is open around the clock.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies only inside the fence, with two entry points to get through. Dogs are not permitted on the adjacent active sports field at any time, so leash up to cross. Inside there are jumps and ramps for dogs that like a job, water troughs, waste bins, a covered shelter with a day bed and seating scattered through the run. Sunshine Coast Council rules apply: effective voice control at all times, current registration tag on the collar, pick up after your dog, and regulated or restricted dogs are not allowed in off-leash areas.

Max: the fence is the selling point, but it only stays that way if the last person latched the gate. Check it before you unclip, and again when you leave.

The vibe

Weekday afternoons after work and weekend mornings are the social peak, with a regular crew of locals. Early morning is the calm window and gets you the shade before the run fills. Two practical warnings: shaded seating is limited, so claim a spot early on hot days, and visitors regularly mention midges and sandflies in humid weather, which is worth remembering before you settle in for a long stay.

Getting there and parking

Street parking on Cordyline Place or Heliconia Street is the usual approach, with a walkway at the end of Cordyline Place leading straight to the park. Public toilets sit on the western side of the sports field. SunBus stops on the main Mountain Creek roads leave a short walk in.

Close by with the dogs

Cafe Elemento on Attenuata Drive is the local coffee stop with dogs welcome at outdoor tables, and the Brightwater lake walkway makes a leashed loop if you want to add distance.
