A long, fully fenced neighbourhood off-leash park, open 24/7, with a flat grass runway that suits sprinting and fetch. Roughly 125 by 45 metres, with a secure double-gated entry and mature trees down the sides for shade.

The rules. Off-leash 24 hours a day inside the fenced area, which runs between Herbert Street and the playground near Lucerne Avenue. The east end by the Lucerne Avenue playground is an on-leash zone, so keep your dog leashed there. Enter through the double gates at the Lucerne Avenue end, keep your dog under control, and clean up; bins sit at both ends.

What's there. Open, flat grass with a table and seats (unshaded), natural shade from the trees along the edges, and a water tap in the adjacent playground area where a metal pan is sometimes left out for dogs. A playground sits at the Lucerne Avenue end.

Getting there. Between Herbert Street and Lucerne Avenue in a residential pocket of Mornington. Free street parking runs on both sides; it is best reached by car or a short walk from Mornington-Tyabb Road.

Nearby with the dogs. Main Street's dog-friendly cafes are a short drive, and Civic Reserve and Pine Avenue Reserve are the other main fenced runs in town.

When to go. Sunday mornings and evenings are quietest; weekday afternoons are the busy fetch sessions. The long runway is best enjoyed when there is room to throw.
