Coral Sea Park

Coral Sea Park is Randwick City Council's designated dog off-leash exercise area on Yorktown Parade, Maroubra, and it carries real rules worth knowing before you unclip. Unleashed play is allowed across the reserve, but dogs are prohibited within 10 metres of the playground and must stay leashed on the sports fields during matches or training. The park itself is unfenced, so recall matters.

The council provides dog bag dispensers on site, and the mix of open grass, tree lines and a walking loop makes it a practical daily exercise ground for local dogs. The surrounding blocks are residential, so most visitors arrive on foot with their dogs already warmed up. Because it shares space with sport, timing shapes your visit: weekends during the season mean the fields are in use, while weekday mornings are quieter and more forgiving for off lead time with a well behaved dog.

The setup

The reserve carries a lot of infrastructure for its size: sports fields, a synthetic field, cricket nets, a basketball court and a fenced playground for the kids. That means it is a shared use park rather than a dedicated dog space, so keep the dog clear of games and playground edges even during off-leash hours. The park is open 24 hours, with the council's off-leash designation applying outside the organised sport periods.

Getting there and parking

The park runs along Yorktown Parade with a car park on site, and street parking on the surrounding Maroubra streets fills on sports days. Footpaths loop the reserve, making it easy to arrive on foot from much of the suburb, and bus routes along the nearby arterials put you within a few minutes' walk of the main entry points.
