North Road Beechmont Parkland

Up in the Gold Coast hinterland, North Road Beechmont Parkland gives local dogs a signed off-leash area under the trees, which is rare in this corner of the ranges.

The park is at 51 North Road in Lower Beechmont, just below Beechmont itself.

Leads and the off-lead area

City of Gold Coast allows dogs off lead inside the signed area only. Everywhere else in the parkland they stay on lead, and they are not allowed near the children's playground.

What it is like

This is open grass and natural ground under mature trees rather than a formed path, good for a stroll and a stretch in cooler mountain air. A drinking fountain is on site.

Off-limits bush nearby

Max: Do not assume the surrounding bush welcomes dogs. Several reserves around here ban them, so the signed area in this park is where the running happens.

The Lower Beechmont Conservation Area, Springbrook National Park and the Little Beechmont Road Reserve all prohibit dogs.

When to go

It suits a short, relaxed session rather than a long walk, and the tree shade keeps it pleasant on warmer days.
