Alexander Clark Park Fenced Dog Park

Alexander Clark Park sits on a peninsula above the Logan River on Dewar Drive, and the fenced dog enclosure is the reason most people come. Separate large and small dog sections, agility gear, water and shaded seating inside the fence, and a full set of family facilities outside it: this is a park built to swallow a whole morning rather than a ten-minute leg stretch.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced and splits into a large dog side and a small dog side, with medium jumps, weaving poles, ramps and a water tap. Shaded shelter with a table plus open seating gives you somewhere to sit that is not in the sun. Bins are inside, and you are expected to carry bags and use them. Handlers stay inside the fence with their dog and keep them under effective voice control; dogs with a history of aggression are not permitted in the off-leash area.

Outside the fence the rules flip: the riverbank walkways, picnic lawns and car park are all leash-on. The Riverside walk along the water is a good cool-down loop, but clip the lead back on before you leave the gate.

Max: Use the small dog side if yours is timid. Weekend mid-mornings get loud with the playground crowd next door, and nervous dogs settle better on a weekday.

The vibe

This is the busy, well-kept community park locals mean when they say the Loganholme dog park, and it doubles as a family destination: electric BBQs, covered picnic tables, accessible toilets on upper and lower levels, and a big playground right alongside the enclosure. Koalas are occasionally spotted in the riverside gums, which tells you something about the trees. It can feel full on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Getting there and parking

The park is off Dewar Drive, a short run from the Loganholme M1 exit, with a large free paved car park including accessible spaces on site. Buses serve the wider area but stops involve a walk, so most people drive. Gates run 6am to 6pm daily.

When to go

Early mornings before 7:30 or late afternoons after 4:30 dodge both the heat and the peak crowds; weekends before lunch are the busiest window. After heavy rain, give the lower parklands time to drain before visiting, and if you want a second stop, the Daisy Hill Trails a few minutes west are leash-on forest walking.
