Cornubia Dog Park

Cornubia Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash park at 4 Gavin Way, managed by Logan City Council. It is a medium-sized neighbourhood park rather than a regional showpiece: open grass, a covered gazebo, seating, water stations and wheelchair-accessible entrances, all wrapped in a quiet residential pocket where the same faces turn up week after week.

The dog setup

The off-leash area is fully fenced, which is the main draw for anyone with a dog whose recall is still a work in progress. The ground is mostly open grass with clear sightlines from anywhere in the park, so fetch and training drills are easy to supervise. There is no agility equipment or separate small-dog run, just the essentials done properly: on-site water taps, shade under the gazebo, and extra seating scattered around the fence line. One thing to plan around is drainage. The park sits in a low-lying spot and the ground turns muddy and soggy after heavy rain, so pack a towel for the car if it has been wet.

The vibe

This is a calm park. The regulars have built a gentle, unhurried culture where dogs get to know each other and nobody lets things escalate. That makes it a reasonable option for dogs still building social confidence, though reactive dogs are better off visiting early mornings or on weekdays when it is quietest. Late weekday afternoons and weekend mid-mornings are the busy windows.

Max: the gazebo is the whole park on a hot day. Get there before the regulars do or bring your own shade.

Logan City Council's standard off-leash rules apply: dogs under effective voice or hand control at all times, a lead carried and used outside the fenced boundary, a maximum of two dogs per handler, and waste picked up immediately. Council dispensers do run empty on busy weekends, so bring your own bags.

Getting there and parking

Gavin Way is an easy local street to find, and parking is free with both street parking beside the entry and off-street options nearby. It can tighten up slightly on weekends and school holidays. The park sits near the Cornubia shopping precinct and the Hyperdome, which makes it easy to pair a dog park run with errands. Coming from further afield, the Pacific Motorway and local arterials make the approach straightforward.

Make a day of it

If Cornubia is muddy or crowded, Lady's Dog Park at Shailer Park is about three kilometres away and makes a useful backup, and Alexander Clark Park at Loganholme is another fenced option nearby. For an on-lead leg stretch afterwards, the Daisy Hill Trails are a short drive south, or grab a coffee at Fold & Rise Cafe on the way home.
