Elcar Park Fenced Dog Park

Elcar Park is the City of Joondalup's fenced, off-leash dog exercise area, tucked into the Joondalup city centre on Elcar Lane. The defining feature is the double-gated, fully fenced layout split into separate large-dog and small-dog and puppy sections, so you get secure off-leash running a short walk from Joondalup Station.

The rules. Off-leash is allowed inside the fenced areas, but dogs must stay under effective control and respond to voice commands. Keep big, heavy dogs out of the small-dog arena. Pick up after your dog straight away, and take an aggressive dog, or one that chases or hassles others, out of the park. The City runs occasional temporary closures for turf repair or fence work, so it is worth checking the City of Joondalup notices before a special trip.

What's there. Both sections are fully fenced with double-gate entries. There is a mix of grass and sandy patches with some natural shade, seating for owners, dog-waste bag dispensers and water stations. It is a well set-up park rather than a bare paddock.

Getting there. The park is on Elcar Lane inside the Joondalup city centre. Parking nearby is limited, so it fills at busy times; it is within walking distance of Joondalup Station and easy to reach if you are already in the CBD.

Nearby with the dogs. The Joondalup CBD has plenty of cafes with dog-friendly outdoor seating for afterwards, including Chester Z, the Joondalup Dôme and Diesel Espresso Bar.

Busiest on weekends and late weekday afternoons after work. For a nervous dog, aim for early morning or the middle of a weekday when it is quietest, and check the City's page first in case of a maintenance closure.
