Dôme Café - Joondalup

The Joondalup Dôme sits on the corner of Davidson Terrace and Boas Avenue in the middle of the Joondalup CBD, and unlike most franchise cafe stops it flags itself as dog-friendly: the venue's own channels confirm dogs join you in the outdoor alfresco seating. Staff here are known to bring a water bowl out without being asked, which tells you how the regulars use the place.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the alfresco area only, with indoor seating reserved for assistance animals in line with standard WA practice. The outdoor tables are roomy and shaded, which makes this a realistic longer sit after a walk rather than a grab-and-go. Water bowls are usually offered, but pack your own on hot days to be sure.

The vibe

It is the full Dôme formula: all-day breakfast, casual lunch, solid coffee and a cake cabinet, delivered reliably. The outlook over nearby parkland is part of the appeal and softens the CBD setting. Expect noise and full tables at peak times; mid-morning or mid-afternoon between the breakfast and lunch rushes is when the alfresco is easiest to get and calmest for a dog.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along both Davidson Terrace and Boas Avenue, with City of Joondalup facilities close by, though the CBD bays fill through the middle of the day. It opens 6am to 4pm daily, so early walkers can be seated before the office crowd arrives.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-lead run before coffee, the Elcar Park Fenced Dog Park on Winton Road is fully fenced with double-gate entry, a short drive from the cafe. For a leashed leg-stretch, the Lake Joondalup Circuit starts close by. Note that the City of Joondalup prohibits dogs at Neil Hawkins Park and a few other reserves, so check signage on any bushland walk. For a second coffee nearby, Paper Avenue Cafe and Diesel Espresso Bar are both local options.
