Larpent Reserve is a large, flat, unfenced sportsground in Glen Waverley that doubles as a 24-hour off-leash space. It is open ground with room for a proper sprint, which makes it a useful option for high-energy dogs that need to stretch out.

The rules. Under City of Monash rules, dogs run off-lead but must stay under effective voice or hand control, with a lead carried at all times. Because this is an active sportsground, dogs must be on-lead during organised sport, training, or scheduled use, and within 20 metres of any play equipment, BBQ, or picnic area in use. Pick up after your dog.

What's there. The draw is space rather than facilities: it is open and unfenced, with little shade and no dog water fountains, so bring water and a bowl. There are no public toilets. Free parking sits directly off Lindwall Street at the edge of the field.

Getting there. Access is via High Street Road or Waverley Road, then onto Lindwall Street, with parking at the ground. It is a longer walk from Glen Waverley Station, or reachable by buses along Springvale Road or High Street Road.

No fence and no shade means two things: confirm recall before unclipping near the road edges, and skip the middle of the day in summer.

When to go. Early mornings and the 4pm to 6pm window are busiest with locals. Weekday mid-morning or early afternoon gives you the space to yourselves. Good for big runners on a cool, clear day.
