Eric Raven Reserve is a sloping valley-style reserve off Estella Street in Glen Iris, with the off-leash zone set on its sporting ovals. It is a straightforward neighbourhood run rather than a destination park, best suited to dogs with solid recall since it is not fully fenced.

The rules. Dogs may be off-leash on the ovals when no organised sport or training is on, and must be on-leash everywhere else, including the surrounding paths. Keep your dog under effective control, carry a lead, limit to two dogs per person, and fill in any holes they dig. Bags are not supplied here, so bring your own.

What is there. A dedicated car park sits off Estella Street, there is a dog drinking-water tap, and limited bench seating around the perimeter. There are no public toilets on-site.

Watch-outs. The reserve drops toward a creek with steep, sometimes muddy banks, and the boundary toward the main road is unfenced, so keep dogs in close near the edges.

Getting there. Reach it by car via Estella Street. Bus routes run nearby on the main road, and it is walkable from the surrounding Glen Iris streets.

When to go. The ovals fill on weekday evenings for sport and on weekend mornings. For an open, quiet paddock, come on a weekday morning or mid-day.
