Derinya Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Derinya Reserve on Derinya Drive is a quiet, scenic off-leash spot in Frankston South, mixing an open grassy area with established tracks through the trees. It is a low-key local reserve, well suited to older dogs and easy socialising rather than big crowds.

The rules. Dogs run off-leash in the designated free-roam area under effective voice or hand control, with a leash carried at all times. The area is not fenced, so keep your dog off neighbouring private bushland and out of any non-designated zones. Leash up within 10 metres of play equipment or organised sport. There are no bins on site, so take your bags and waste with you.

What's there. Not much by way of facilities: this is natural bush terrain with an open grassy strip and walking tracks. There is no water tap on site, so bring your own water and a bowl. Parking is along the road.

Getting there. Reach it via Derinya Drive in Frankston South, with on-street parking. The nearest buses run along Nepean Highway and nearby streets such as Towerhill Road, a short walk away.

Late afternoon (around 4 to 6pm) and weekend mornings are the busier windows. Weekday middays are usually near-empty if you want the place to yourselves.
