Sylvia Gibbs Park Fenced Dog Park

Sylvia Gibbs Park's fenced dog park sits on Nyora Street in Everton Hills, bordered by bushland on Brisbane's northwest fringe. The off-leash area is split into two separate fenced zones, so bigger, boisterous dogs and smaller or older dogs each get their own run, and the double-gated entry makes it one of the safer fenced options on this side of town for dogs that are not reliable off-lead in open ground.

The dog setup

Dogs can only run off-leash inside the two fenced zones; they go back on a lead everywhere else in the wider park, including the playground and picnic areas. Owners are expected to stay with their dogs and pick up after them, with waste bags and bins on site. The double-gate system only works if you use it: close the first gate behind you before opening the second so nobody slips out while you are getting settled.

Max: check both gates are latched before you let go of the lead. It is a proper double-gate setup, but it only works if you actually shut the first one.

The vibe

Both zones have a water station with bowls, shade trees and seating for owners, plus basic play and agility equipment for the dogs. The wider park is a genuine mixed-use space: children's playground, half-court, outdoor fitness gear, a table-tennis table, electric barbecues and public toilets, so it handles a dog-and-family outing at the same time.

Getting there and parking

The park is easiest by car, with off-street parking on site. There is no train line nearby and bus coverage is limited to the arterials a short drive away, so budget for driving in from Everton Park, Arana Hills or The Gap.

While you're out there

Just down the hill, Teralba Park in Everton Park has its own large/small split fenced zones along Kedron Brook, and the Fenced Puppy Leash-Free Park suits puppies and timid dogs. For a leashed bushwalk afterwards, the tracks through Bunyaville Conservation Park start a few minutes away.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quiet times; after work and weekend mornings bring the regular crowd. Dog-friendly cafes cluster around Arana Hills and Everton Park rather than being walkable from the park. More dog parks in Queensland and the rest of Everton Hills are on the site.
