Valepark Reserve is an off-leash reserve on Valepark Drive in Donvale, a mix of open grass and bushland with walking paths that link into the Mullum Mullum Creek Linear Park. That connection is the draw: a quick run here can turn into a long creek-side walk.

The rules. Dogs may be off-leash in the designated area under effective voice or hand-signal control, and must stay within sight and reasonable distance of you. Clip up within 20 metres of playgrounds and cycling tracks. Dogs must wear a current registration tag off your property, and droppings go in the bins provided.

What's there. Paved paths run through the reserve toward the wider trail network, there is a playground nearby, and water facilities and seating are on site. Street parking sits on the surrounding residential roads. Being bushland-bordered, keep an eye out for wildlife.

The path tips straight onto the Mullum Mullum creek trail, so a short off-leash blast can roll into a proper long walk. Bring water for both of you.

Getting there. Access is off Springvale Road via Valepark Drive, with street parking near the entrances. Buses on Springvale Road, including routes 902 and 271, stop a short walk away. Note that the creek trail itself is on-leash.

When to go. Weekday mornings and mid-afternoons are quiet; late afternoons after 4pm and weekend mornings get busier, and the entrance near the playground can congest on weekend mornings. Good for a dog who likes to combine a social run with a longer walk.
