Valepark Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Valepark Reserve is a local off-leash reserve on Valepark Drive in Donvale, where mown grass meets a bushland edge and paved paths head straight for the Mullum Mullum Creek corridor. It is the kind of place where a quick off-leash run can turn into a proper long walk if the mood takes you both.

The reserve sits in a residential pocket of Manningham, bordered by houses on one side and native vegetation on the other. That mix shapes the visit: open space for a run, shaded path edges for the walk home, and wildlife in the bushland that keeps curious dogs honest.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-leash in the designated area under effective voice or hand-signal control, and they need to stay within sight and reasonable distance of you. Carry a leash at all times and clip up within 20 metres of the playground and the cycling tracks. A current registration tag is required whenever your dog is off your property, and the bins around the reserve take care of droppings.

There is no full fence here, so this is a recall park rather than a containment one. If your dog is unreliable off-leash, the fenced run at Aranga Reserve is the better fit. Water facilities and seating sit on site, and the bushland edge means it pays to keep an eye on the local wildlife.

The vibe

Weekday mornings and mid-afternoons are the quiet windows. Late afternoons after 4pm and weekend mornings fill up, and the entrance near the playground can congest on Saturday mornings. It suits dogs who like a social run followed by a longer sniff along the creek.

Getting there and parking

Access is off Springvale Road via Valepark Drive, with street parking on the surrounding residential roads near the entrances. Buses along Springvale Road, including routes 902 and 271, stop within a short walk. One thing to note: the creek trail itself is on-leash, so the off-leash fun stays inside the reserve.

While you're out there

The path network connects directly into the Mullum Mullum Creek Linear Park, and the Bucks Walking Trail continues the creek-side theme nearby. For a fully fenced session instead, Aranga Reserve Fenced Dog Park on Eastway Avenue has double gates, agility equipment and water on tap.
