Donvale Reserve #2

Donvale Reserve is a large open-space park off Springvale Road in Donvale, behind Donvale Primary School, with a partly fenced off-leash area set back from the busy road. It is a relaxed local park with a mix of open grass and trees for a proper run.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash in the designated area only. They must be on-leash in the carparks, near the playground, and on the path around the oval. Dogs are allowed on the fenced sports ground, but only when no organised sport or training is on. Clean up after your dog; bins are provided.

What's there. A pavilion, public toilets and a sheltered area, plus a children's playground where dogs stay on lead. Parking is easy on-site. There is no reliable dog water tap, so bring your own.

Getting there. Access is via Noonan Way off Springvale Road, with an on-site carpark. Buses run along Springvale Road within walking distance of the entrance.

Nearby with the dogs. If Donvale Reserve is busy, Aranga Reserve in Donvale is a fully fenced alternative a short drive away.

When to go. Mid-morning on a weekday is generally quiet; weekends and late afternoons draw the local dog crowd. Good for an everyday run, with the caveat that the partial fencing means it is not a secure spot for a bolter.
