Dianella Fenced Dog Park

Dianella Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced, free off-leash park inside the Dianella Regional Open Space at 568 Light Street, managed by the City of Stirling. Its defining feature is the split into two separate secure enclosures, one for small dogs and one for large or energetic dogs, which gives owners a controlled environment for exercise and socialisation. It opens daily, 6am to 9pm.

The rules

Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting through the double-gated airlock, and go off-leash only once safely inside. Use the enclosure that matches your dog's size, keep your dog under effective control with reliable recall, and supervise at all times; council guidelines cap it at two dogs per handler.

Pick up waste immediately using the bins on site, and remove any dog showing aggression straight away. The council is blunt about intent too: this is a park for well-socialised dogs, not a training ground for reactive ones, and children need watching near the play areas.

Max: leash up before you reach the gate and let anyone leaving pass through first. Gateways are where most scuffles start, so keep the entry calm.

What's there

The large enclosure runs agility equipment over a mix of grass and sand, with mature shade trees across both enclosures. Water taps, fountains and troughs are placed for refilling bowls, and dog poo bins sit on site, though carry spare bags as backup. The wider reserve adds public toilets, free BBQs, shaded picnic tables and a big nature playground.

Getting there

The park sits within Dianella Regional Open Space between the Light Street entrance and the southern side off Morley Drive, with ample free parking including accessible bays. Bus routes along Alexander Drive put you within walking distance if you come by public transport.

When to go

Weekday mornings are the quiet window for cautious dogs, and the after-work stretch from late afternoon brings the regular social crowd. Weekend mornings are the busiest sessions, best for confident dogs.
