Mid-Century Cafe and Collectables is a 1950s-60s themed cafe and vintage shop rolled into one on Michael Street, Yokine, in Perth's inner north. You eat surrounded by retro furniture and collectables that are all for sale, and the dog joins you at the outdoor tables.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the courtyard and footpath seating out the front. Inside is off limits, which is fair enough - the rooms are tight and packed with breakable vintage stock. The dog-friendly setup is well established with locals but not published anywhere official, so call ahead on (08) 9344 7314 if the visit depends on it, and bring your own water bowl to be safe.

Good to know. Regulars rate the eggs benedict, pancakes, banana bread and milkshakes, and the comfy couches and retro decor get as many mentions as the food. It is a small venue and weekend tables go fast.

Getting there. 56 Michael Street, with street parking on Michael Street and the surrounding residential streets. Open from 7am, closing 3pm Monday to Saturday and 1pm Sunday - hours shift, so check their socials before a special trip.

The walk to your table passes a lot of low shelves and breakables. Keep the lead short until you are seated.

When to go. Weekday mornings are the calm window; on weekends the courtyard fills early. Afterwards, Dog Swamp Reserve is five minutes away for an on-leash wetland loop, or save your appetite for The Mighty Quinn Tavern up on Wanneroo Road.
