Mid-Century Cafe and Collectables

Mid-Century Cafe and Collectables is a 1950s and 60s themed cafe and vintage shop rolled into one at 56 Michael Street, Yokine, in Perth's inner north. You eat surrounded by retro furniture and collectables that are all for sale, and the dog joins you at the outdoor tables out front.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the courtyard and footpath seating out the front, on lead. Inside is off limits, which is fair enough, as the rooms are tight and packed with breakable vintage stock. The dog-friendly setup is well established with locals but not published anywhere official, so call ahead on (08) 9344 7314 if the visit depends on it, and bring your own water bowl to be safe. Regulars report dog treats at the counter for well-behaved visitors.

Worth knowing

Eggs benedict, pancakes, banana bread and milkshakes get the regular mentions, and the comfy couches and retro decor rate as highly as the food. It is a small venue, so weekend tables go fast. Doors open at 7am, closing 3pm Monday to Saturday and 1pm Sunday, and hours shift occasionally, so check their socials before a special trip.

Getting there and parking

Michael Street runs through the middle of Yokine, with street parking out front and on the surrounding residential streets. It is an easy pull-in from Wanneroo Road or the Flinders Street backstreets, and flat walking from most of the suburb.

Close by with the dogs

Dog Swamp Reserve is five minutes away for an on-lead wetland loop before or after coffee, and The Mighty Quinn Tavern up on Wanneroo Road covers the lunch or dinner leg with the dog beside you.
