Claverton Drive Park Fenced Dog Park

Claverton Drive Park in Deception Bay is a long, shady community park with a properly equipped fenced dog park at its heart: separate enclosures for large and small dogs, agility gear in the big run, and enough cover from the old gums that summer sessions stay workable. It suits a secure run rather than a waterfront outing, though the bay is only a short drive.

The dog setup

The large-dog enclosure includes an agility course, while the separate small-dog yard gives timid dogs a quieter option, and Moreton Bay council asks you to use the correct enclosure for your dog's size. Dogs must be leashed until inside the fenced areas and stay under effective voice control once off-leash. Water fountains with dog bowls, shaded seating, an undercover area and waste bag dispensers are on site, with bins for the pickup. Keep dogs out of the surrounding reserves and conservation areas unless signage clearly allows dogs, and leash up again the moment you exit the gates.

Max: koalas in the gum trees are a real possibility here, so a dog with strong prey drive needs watching.

The council notes the park's massive gum trees are frequented by local koalas, so keep an eye on a dog that chases wildlife, particularly in the early morning. The wider park brings a children's playground, picnic tables and BBQs alongside the dog area, making it an easy family stop. The enclosures are accessible around the clock, though evenings are best before dark given the park's length.

The park sits at 2 Claverton Drive, Deception Bay, with on-street parking along the park frontage and the Bayview Terrace waterfront a few minutes away. Buses run through the suburb, and the Bruce Highway corridor is close for anyone passing through.
