Boama Park Fenced Dog Park (Small Dog)

Boama Park on the Esplanade at Deception Bay has a fenced off-leash dog park with two separated enclosures, and this entry covers the small-dog area: an enclosed run near the waterfront for dogs that do better away from bigger, boisterous company.

The dog setup

The small-dog enclosure is fully fenced with a double-gated entry, so keep hold of the leash until you are inside and the gate is shut behind you. Dogs are off-leash only inside the fence, you stay in the enclosure with your dog the whole time, and any dog showing aggression should be removed. The run itself is flat, well-grassed and shaded for owners, with dog-friendly water taps on site. Bring your own waste bags as backup even though dispensers and bins are provided.

The vibe

The wider Boama Park is a family space with a children's playground, flying fox, BMX track, basketball hoop and picnic shelters, so expect kids and foot traffic around the edges of the dog area. The enclosure itself stays calm, particularly in the quiet windows: weekday mid-morning and the early-afternoon lull around 1 to 2, which small and nervous dogs tend to prefer. Saturday mornings and the 3 to 5 school-pickup stretch are busiest. The Esplanade is breezy but sunny, so use the shade and bring water in summer.

Getting there and parking

The park fronts Esplanade South, with street parking on Cross Street and Windlass Street. Access is easy off the main road, the ground is flat and wheelchair accessible, and local bus stops sit within walking distance.

The Deception Bay Dog Beach up the foreshore is the natural pairing for a swim after the run, and the Claverton Drive Park Fenced Dog Park offers a second dual-enclosure option in the suburb. Zesty Lemon Cafe and the Gardenia Dog Park at North Lakes round out a day out.
