Zesty Lemon Cafe

Zesty Lemon Cafe is a relaxed brunch spot at 6 Bayview Terrace, directly across from the Deception Bay foreshore, with an outdoor alfresco area on the bayfront footpath and views over the water. For dog owners it works because the coffee and the walk line up: the foreshore path is about 100 metres away and the dog beach a short stroll along the bay.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor alfresco area on the footpath, not inside, and water bowls are usually on hand, though bringing your own on a hot day removes the doubt. The outdoor space is open along the front, so it suits a settled dog that will lie down beside the table rather than a restless one. Weekday mornings are calmest; weekend brunch gets busy along the front tables.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is rated for its breakfasts, with potato rosti, eggs benedict and smashed avocado recurring alongside homemade cakes in the cabinet, and the coffee holds its own. It generally trades from around 7am to 2pm daily, though it has been known to close Tuesdays, so confirm current hours before a special trip. The bay view does a lot of work from every seat on the front strip.

Street parking runs along Bayview Terrace directly out front. The surrounding streets and foreshore path are flat and easy to walk with a dog, and the cafe sits a short drive from the North Lakes corridor.
