Maple Park Fenced Dog Park

Maple Park Fenced Dog Park on Apium Street in Clyde is one of the newer generation of suburban dog parks in Melbourne's southeast: fully fenced, purpose-built, and with an agility circuit that gives the visit a bit more shape than a plain lap of grass.

The dog setup

The enclosure combines a grassy open run with a secondary strip of gravel, rocks and logs for dogs that like terrain under their paws. The agility course includes a zigzag balance beam, weave poles, ramps and hurdle circles, so it works for training sessions as well as free play. Entry is through double gates, and dogs stay on the lead until you are inside. A water tap and bowl sit near one entrance, and waste bins are positioned at the gates, so there is little excuse to leave anything behind. Owners are expected to stay and supervise the whole time, with standard voice-control rules applying inside the fence.

Pepsi: the weave poles and ramps make this one of the better fenced yards in Casey for actually tiring a young dog out.

Worth knowing

The main gap is shade: the trees planted around the park are still young and the seating is unshaded, so summer visits are best kept to mornings and evenings. The park sits next to a community playground, which makes it easy to combine with kids, but that also means keeping an eye on the gate when the area is busy.

Getting there and parking

The park is in the new residential streets of Clyde, with free street parking in the surrounding blocks. It is a few minutes from the Clyde North growth corridor and the shops along the main arterials, so it slots easily into a local loop rather than demanding a dedicated trip.
