Burnie Brae Off-leash Dog Park

A fenced off-leash enclosure tucked inside the wider Burnie Brae Park on Kuran Street, Chermside. It is a single shared run rather than a split-zone park, so dogs of all sizes mix together, which suits a confident, sociable dog better than a wary one.

The rules. Dogs stay on-lead everywhere in the broader park and only come off inside the fenced enclosure, where they must be under the control of a responsible person at all times. Clean up after your dog using the bins provided. Any dog turning aggressive or becoming a nuisance goes back on-lead and out. Keep vaccinations and registration current.

What is there. The run is securely fenced with a water tap on-site and some agility equipment. The surrounding park adds mature shade trees, picnic tables, a rotunda, a playground, exercise stations and walking paths, so there is plenty to do either side of a play session.

Getting there. Entry is off Kuran Street with parking nearby. Bus services through Chermside put it within reach on public transport, and suburban footpaths connect it if you are walking in.

Nearby with the dogs. Table 26 at Westfield Chermside, a two to three minute drive, has a pet-friendly seating area and a dog menu. Most other Chermside cafes will take dogs in their outdoor areas too.

When to go. Busiest on weekend mornings and weekday afternoons from around 4:30pm as locals walk after work. Weekday mornings and mid-week lunch hours are the quietest windows.
