Burnie Brae Off-leash Dog Park

The Burnie Brae Off-leash Dog Park is a fenced enclosure inside the wider Burnie Brae Park on Kuran Street, Chermside. It is a single shared run rather than a split-zone park, so dogs of all sizes mix in the same space, which works best for a confident, sociable dog. Agility equipment and a water tap sit inside the fence, and the surrounding park adds mature shade trees, picnic tables, a rotunda, a playground and exercise stations.

The dog setup

On-lead everywhere in the broader park, off-lead inside the enclosure, where dogs must stay under the control of a responsible person at all times. Brisbane City Council's standard rules apply: leash up before exiting, carry bags and use the bins provided, and take out any dog that turns aggressive or becomes a nuisance. Females in season and unregistered or restricted dogs are not permitted, so keep registrations current.

Max: one shared pen means everyone lands in the same space. If your dog is unsure around bigger, bouncier dogs, come mid-week morning and let them settle before the after-work crowd.

The vibe

A neighbourhood park with a strong local regular crew, helped by the Burnie Brae centre and its walking track next door. Weekday mornings and mid-week lunch hours are the quiet windows. Weekend mornings and weekday afternoons from about 4:30pm, when the after-work walkers arrive, are the busy stretches.

Getting there and parking

Entry is off Kuran Street with street parking nearby, and bus services through Chermside put the park within reach without a car. Suburban footpaths connect it if you are walking in from surrounding streets.

Close by with the dogs

The Chermside Dog Park and the Kenna Street off-leash area at Chermside West are both close alternatives, and the Downfall Creek Dog Park at Geebung is a larger option a few minutes north. Coffee afterwards is easy at Cali's Brew on Hamilton Road, which takes dogs in the outdoor seating.
