What visitors mention
Sandfield Reserve is a fully fenced off-leash dog park in Carrum Downs, sitting on Sandfield Drive alongside a renovated playground, basketball court and skatepark. At more than 4,500 square metres, with a double-gate airlock entry and a separate quiet zone, it is the local pick when you want a safe, enclosed run rather than open ground.
The rules. Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced area under effective voice control. Outside the fence, keep your dog on-leash within 10 metres of the playground, barbecues and skatepark. Use both gates at the airlock entry so nobody slips out, clean up after your dog, and leash up straight away if play turns tense.
What's there. The park is split into an active area and a quieter time-out patch for smaller or timid dogs, so a nervous dog is not stuck with the boisterous crowd. There is a compact agility set with ramps, hoops and platforms, a dog water tap toward the western end, shaded seating, and bag dispensers and bins at the entry points. Public toilets and the playground are close by in the wider reserve.
Getting there. Access is off Sandfield Drive with parking near the reserve entrance. Local bus routes serve Carrum Downs along the arterial roads, though you will likely walk in from the main road, so most visitors drive.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes around the Carrum Downs shopping precinct and the McCormicks Road area usually have outdoor seating for a post-run coffee. For an overnight, pet-friendly rooms sit a short drive away in Frankston.
Weekday mid-mornings and late evenings are the calmest. Weekends and the school pickup window bring the crowds, and the space handles it, but expect busy gates. Ground is mostly grass with a gravel path down one side, so it holds up reasonably after rain.
