Poo bins are provided, and there is a small children's playground and public toilets, though the toilets are sometimes only open around scheduled sporting events. Accessible parking and entrances are in place.

Frankston City Council's free-roam rules apply: leash within 10 metres of the playground and BBQ areas, carry a lead at all times, keep dogs under effective voice control, and no rushing or chasing other users. Declared dangerous, menacing dogs and greyhounds must stay on-lead even inside the free-roam zone. Clean up straight away using the supplied bins.

Worth knowing

The wetland edges and long grass are the trade-off for all that space. Watch for snakes in the unmanicured grass through the warmer months, expect mud after heavy rain, and walk the basin boundary before letting a keen dog off, because the water sits in places you cannot see from the gate. This is not the spot for a dog with shaky recall; the unfenced sections by the water demand reliability.

Weekday early mornings and late evenings are the quiet windows, and the unlit reserve means night visits need a torch. Weekend afternoons draw the bigger dog crowd. Skip the long grass in summer and stick to the oval when the wetland edges warm up.
