KCC Park

KCC Park, the official Dogs Victoria State Dog Centre at 655 Western Port Highway in Skye, is a 74-acre dedicated canine facility south-east of Melbourne near Cranbourne. The single reason to make the drive: this is the only venue in the region combining wide-open fenced off-leash space with a large, purpose-accessible swimming dam and dog sport infrastructure on the same site.

The rules. Dogs must remain on a lead everywhere on the grounds unless you are inside one of the designated fenced off-leash areas. When events and competitions are running, leash discipline is strictly enforced around the pavilions and event areas. Owners are expected to pick up after their dogs at all times. The site is open to the public, and you will frequently share the space with Dogs Victoria members, breeders, and registered clubs conducting training or conformation shows.

The water and terrain. The large dam is the main drawcard for water-loving dogs. Access is open and the dam is popular for swimming, with plenty of open shoreline for a dog to get in and out. Away from the water, the terrain is predominantly flat, maintained open grassland, which makes for straightforward off-lead running in the fenced zones.

What is there. The facility is built for competition and training, so the amenities go well beyond a typical suburban reserve:

From Melbourne, take the Monash Freeway (M1) and connect to the Western Port Highway south towards Cranbourne. Public transport is minimal. The nearest train stations are Merinda Park or stations around the Carrum Downs area, and from there you will need a taxi or rideshare to cover the remaining distance to the gates.

Watch-outs. This is a working exhibition and event venue first and a public recreation space second. Weekends are the peak period for dog shows, agility trials, and club activities. The grounds and car park get very busy, traffic flows change, and you may encounter high numbers of dogs moving between show areas and vehicles. Check the Dogs Victoria website for the event calendar before you leave home so you know what to expect. Also be aware that some areas of the car park and surrounding grounds have potholes, so drive cautiously.
