Holland Gully Dog Off Leash Area

Holland Gully Dog Off Leash Area is a linear reserve running along the gully corridor between Royton Street and Holland Road in Burwood East, with the whole stretch designated off-leash. It is a shaded, low-key local walk rather than a purpose-built dog park, which suits owners after a quiet loop more than a full agility session.

The dog setup

Dogs need to be under effective voice control the whole time they are off-leash, and back on-lead once you leave the gully for the surrounding residential streets under Whitehorse City Council rules. Owners are expected to pick up and bin waste. The walking path through the gully has typical park lighting, but the corridor is largely unfenced, so it is not the spot for a dog with patchy recall around people or other dogs.

Max: think of this one as a shaded corridor walk with your dog free beside you, not an open oval where you can hurl a ball fifty metres.

The vibe

Early mornings and late afternoons are when the local dogs turn out in numbers, so mid-morning or midday on a weekday is the calmer choice if your dog needs more space. The tree cover along the gully keeps the path usable through summer, and the linear layout means every walk has a natural turn-around point.

Getting there and parking

Access is via Eley Road or Royton Street, with parking limited to the residential streets nearby. Local buses run along Eley Road and Burwood Highway if you are coming without a car.

Close by with the dogs

Burwood Brickworks, five to ten minutes away, has a genuinely dog-friendly outdoor dining precinct (Eat Street) worth a coffee after the walk, and Spizzico Gourmet Deli & Cafe is a local stop with outdoor seating. If you want a proper fenced run, Mahoneys Reserve in Forest Hill has an enclosed off-leash area, and Gardiners Creek Reserve adds a longer corridor option in Burwood.
