Dendy Park Dog Off Leash Area

Dendy Park in Brighton East is a large, open reserve on Dacey Street with plenty of grassy space, mature trees for shade and multiple sporting ovals, making it one of the bigger off-leash options in the Bayside area.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash in the park's designated areas provided they are under effective voice control. Stay at least 20 metres from playgrounds, barbecues, picnic areas and any organised sport or training session in progress. The north-east section, around the tennis courts and bowling club, is on-leash only. Bring bags, bins are placed around the park including near the wooded south-east corner.

What's there. Multiple soccer ovals, open grass and shaded tree lines, a fenced playground (on-leash zone), and toilets near the main oval. Plenty of shade makes this a reasonable option even on warmer days.

Getting there. The park is on Dacey Street, Brighton East, with parking available at several points around the reserve. Local bus routes run along the surrounding main roads; Brighton Beach and Patterson stations are the nearest trains, a moderate walk or short drive away.

Nearby with the dogs. Dendy Street Beach in Brighton allows dogs outside the seasonal restricted hours (check current Bayside Council times before summer visits), and there are dog-friendly cafes along Hampton Street and in Brighton East itself for a coffee afterwards.

Weekend mornings and weekday evenings after 5pm are busiest, when local sports teams train. Weekday mornings or early afternoon are quieter if you want more open space.
