What visitors mention
Allnutt Park's northern section is a large, open grassy off-leash area for McKinnon dogs, with the southern half (playground, BBQs, picnic shelters) kept on-leash. Flat, partly shaded terrain and dog water feeders make it an easy everyday walk rather than a destination trip.
The rules: Dogs can run off-leash under effective voice control in the northern section of the park. The southern section, including the playground and BBQ/picnic areas, is on-leash only, and dogs must be leashed within 20 metres of playgrounds, BBQs and picnic settings wherever you are in the park. Dogs are not permitted inside the fenced playground. Bag dispensers and bins are provided at the entrances, so pick up after your dog.
What's there: Dog water feeders are on site in the off-leash section. The wider park has public toilets, BBQs and undercover picnic shelters, plus separate age-appropriate playgrounds in the on-leash zone.
Getting there: Allnutt Park is at 33 Wheatley Road, McKinnon. Street parking runs along Wheatley Road. It's an easy walk from McKinnon or Bentleigh station on the Frankston line, and bus routes along Jasper Road and Centre Road pass nearby.
Nearby with the dogs: Cafes along Jasper Road and McKinnon Road are a five to ten minute walk, and several have outdoor seating. There's no pet-friendly accommodation right by the park, but Bentleigh and McKinnon have options nearby, confirm pet policies directly when booking.

Weekday afternoons from 4 to 6pm and weekend mornings from 9 to 11am are the busiest times. Mid-week mornings are quieter, and because the northern section is wide open, even a busy day rarely feels crowded. Good for dogs that want space to run without a fence.
