What visitors mention
Lake Ginninderra Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash exercise area on the western foreshore of the lake in Belconnen, with separate sections for large and small dogs. The double-gated entry and the grassy, part-shaded run are the reason it works as a safe spot to let a dog off the lead close to the town centre.
The rules. The enclosure is off-leash, but the lake paths beyond the fence are on-leash. A maximum of two dogs per person applies, and all dogs must be registered, vaccinated and (unless a permit applies) desexed under ACT rules. Dogs are kept out of playgrounds and off the main swimming beaches over summer. Pick up after your dog; bins are provided.
What's there. Two fenced zones split large and small dogs, with scattered trees for shade and open grass for running. There are water fountains set up for dogs and people, waste bags and bins, covered picnic seating, and public toilets nearby. The fenced area sits just north of the main foreshore pathways.
Getting there. The park is off the western foreshore near Joynton Smith Drive, with free parking at the adjacent Lake Ginninderra District Park areas. On public transport, the Belconnen bus interchange is a short walk away.
Watch the gate. Don't let dogs crowd the double gates on the way in or out, and if the enclosure is already packed it is worth waiting rather than adding to the congestion.

Weekday mornings and late afternoons are the busiest, along with weekend mornings. Midday on a weekday gives you the most room. Good for social dogs that enjoy company, with the small-dog section for anyone who prefers a calmer run.
