Abode Belconnen

Abode Belconnen is an apartment-style hotel at 3 Grazier Lane in the Belconnen town centre that takes pets in designated rooms booked through Abode's Pet Package, which makes it one of the more practical Canberra bases if you are travelling with a dog and want a kitchen rather than a single hotel room.

Dogs at the Abode Belconnen

You must select the Pet Package when booking, so a dog cannot simply be added on arrival. The fee runs about $50 per pet per night, roughly $200 a week, with a maximum of two pets per room and no stated weight limit; dogs and cats are both accepted. Pets stay leashed in common areas, cannot be left alone in the room at any time, and you bring your own pet bed, bowls and supplies. Fees and conditions do change, so confirm the current terms directly with the property when you book.

The place

Rooms run from studios to two-bedroom apartments with kitchenettes, which is the real selling point for a longer stay: you can settle the dog in a self-contained space and cook rather than eat out every night. The location is walkable to Westfield Belconnen and a short drive from the rest of the city.

Getting there

Belconnen sits about 20 minutes from Canberra's centre via Belconnen Way or Gungahlin Drive, with parking at the hotel. The Lake Ginninderra foreshore starts a few minutes from the door.

While you're out there

The Lake Ginninderra Loop Trail is an on-lead walk right on the doorstep, and Lake Ginninderra Dog Park handles the off-lead session. Cafe2617 is a nearby coffee stop.
