John Baker Reserve Fenced Dog Park

John Baker Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced, purpose-built off-leash park on Darlington Drive in Banora Point, opened in 2022 with separate areas for big and small dogs plus agility equipment.

The rules. The park is off-leash within the fenced boundary, available 24 hours, though daylight visits are the safer bet. Dogs must be under effective control and supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Declared dangerous, menacing or restricted breeds under the NSW Companion Animals Regulation are not permitted. Bring a lead for arrival and departure through the double-gate airlock entry, and pick up after your dog immediately.

What's there. Separate fenced zones for large and small dogs, agility equipment such as tunnels and balance beams, water fountains with low dog bowls, picnic tables and shelters for shade, waste bag dispensers, and on-site parking. Public toilets are available.

Getting there. The park sits on Darlington Drive, easily reached off the Sexton Hill Drive exit from the M1. Free parking is right at the entrance. It is best reached by car; the nearest bus stops are on Darlington Drive itself.

Nearby with the dogs. Dulcie and Edna in Banora Point is a short drive away for a dog-friendly outdoor coffee stop afterwards.

When to go. Early mornings from about 7 to 9am and late afternoons from 4 to 6pm are the busiest windows, especially on weekends. For a calmer visit with a shy or small dog, aim for a weekday mid-morning or early afternoon instead. Good for dogs that need proper off-leash space in a secure, fenced setting.
