Lenaya Baked Goods

Lenaya Baked Goods is a small Samoan-owned bakery cafe at 101 Kate Street, Woody Point, a couple of minutes back from the Redcliffe peninsula foreshore. The reason to detour is baking you will not find elsewhere on the peninsula: panikeke, pai fala pineapple pie, pani popo coconut buns and koko brownie trifles, made fresh each morning and washed down with proper koko Samoa.

The dog setup

Seating is a handful of street-side tables on Kate Street, so dogs sit beside you on the footpath, on-lead. The cafe does not publish a formal dog policy, so treat it as footpath-friendly rather than officially dog-friendly, and bring your own water bowl. If the tables are full, takeaway plus the walk down to the waterfront works just as well, and the foreshore path towards the jetty is a pleasant on-lead stretch.

Worth knowing

Alongside the Samoan sweets, regulars rate the pies, quiches and sandwiches, with gluten-friendly options on the counter. Hours are mornings only, 7am to 1pm Tuesday to Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday, and the popular bakes sell out, so earlier is safer. Getting there and parking

Kate Street runs off the Woody Point shopping strip near the Oxley Avenue end, with free street parking on Kate Street and the surrounding side streets, usually easy outside weekend mornings.

Take the pastry and walk it off: the Artemis Dog Beach Strip at Clontarf is minutes north for sand and water, and the Kroll Gardens Fenced Dog Park gives a secure off-lead run. More coffee options nearby are Capulet Espresso and Letter M. Espresso.
