Warrandyte Bridge Cafe

The Warrandyte Bridge Cafe sits on Yarra Street in the old river township, and its own website carries customer feedback describing the cafe as dog friendly, including free puppaccinos for canine visitors. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, where the river view does a lot of the work. Doors open 8:30am to 3pm Wednesday through Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday closed.

The menu runs wider than cafe standard: fritters and pumpkin salad sit alongside a philly cheesesteak and Persian plates, with vegan options listed. Staff come up constantly in visitor feedback, both for the food and for how they look after the dogs at the outside tables.

The vibe

This is a proper Yarra Street institution: the bridge marks the crossing into the township, the river runs just below, and weekend mornings fill fast. Wednesday to Sunday trading means a midweek visit is the calm choice for a dog, while Saturday is the day to arrive early and queue with everyone else. Arrive before 10am midweek and you will usually get a table without waiting.

Street parking along Yarra Street serves the cafe, and the bridge itself is the landmark to aim for. From the outdoor tables it is a short stroll down to the river reserve, which makes an easy two stop morning without moving the car.
