Smoke & Dough

Smoke & Dough is the evening eatery at Shop 3/188 Yarra Street, in Warrandyte's main strip, turning out kebabs, pizza and chips for the locals. It trades in the evening rather than the morning, so with a dog it works best as a dinner stop after a river walk, taken at the outdoor seating out the front.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor dining space, where a casual, cosy setup makes it easy to settle in with a dog beside the table. It is a small shop rather than a dedicated pet venue, so there are no built-in pet perks such as water bowls or dog treats; bring your own portable bowl to be safe. Inside is for ordering and waiting, so plan on the front outdoor area for the whole visit.

Worth knowing

The menu is built around gourmet pizzas, kebabs and HSPs, with freshly made pizzas the thing regulars keep coming back for. Hours run an evening pattern, roughly 5pm to 9pm Tuesday to Sunday, with Wednesdays closed, so a lunchtime visit will find the shutters down. It is a counter and table service takeaway shop at heart, which keeps things quick if you are feeding the family after a day out.

Getting there and parking

The shop sits on Yarra Street in the heart of Warrandyte, an easy walk from the riverfront. Street parking along the main strip is limited, with more parking in the public car park just off the main road. If you are driving in with the dog, the short walk from either is flat and straightforward.

The Warrandyte River Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is a short walk away and makes the natural pre-dinner run, with riverside tracks your dog can burn off some energy on before you claim an outdoor table. For morning coffee instead, Now and Not Yet. and George's Milkbar are both nearby on the same side of town.
