Lena's Cafe and Bar sits at 444 The Esplanade on the Warners Bay foreshore, a breakfast-and-lunch spot with Lake Macquarie across the road. For dog owners the draw is simple: the front tables open straight onto the lakeside path, so it works as a coffee stop mid-walk rather than a separate errand.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables and footpath seating out the front, which connect directly to the Warners Bay foreshore path. Dogs are not taken inside the main dining room. Staff are used to walkers pulling up with a dog, and water bowls are often out front, though it is worth carrying your own on a warm day.

The vibe

It is a busy local favourite, rated for its lake views and a broad all-day menu that runs from pancakes and breakfast rolls through to seafood, burgers and lunch plates, with gluten-free options noted. Weekend mornings fill up fast. It generally trades seven days, roughly 7 am to 3 pm, with later closes on Friday and Saturday.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking runs along The Esplanade with a public carpark nearby, but it turns over slowly on weekends. Arriving before about 9:30 am gives you the best shot at a foreshore-side table and a spot for the car.

Close by with the dogs

The flat, paved foreshore path starts at the door and runs along the lake, good for a stroll either side of a meal.
