Sunshine Social Coffee Roasters

Sunshine Social Coffee Roasters runs from 24-26 Duke Street in the Sunshine Beach village, a short walk up from the sand, and it roasts on site, making it the Noosa shire's original coffee roastery. It opens 6am to 1pm every day, so it is a morning operation, and the beans you drink are the same ones sold by the bag in store and online.

The dog setup

Dogs are warmly welcomed on the sprawling multi-level timber deck, particularly the lower level under the pandanus trees and umbrellas. Water bowls are usually put out for visiting dogs, though carrying a collapsible one removes any doubt. The cafe sits at the heart of the beach-and-dog community here, so expect company: mornings bring a steady parade of sandy dogs off the leash beach. Indoor areas stay people only, as with Queensland cafes generally.

Worth knowing

Beyond the coffee, there is a solid breakfast menu with vegetarian and vegan options, plus pastries, cakes and savoury muffins in the cabinet. The mug library covers takeaways for the walk downhill. Because the whole operation closes at 1pm, this is strictly a before-lunch stop, and weekend mornings are the busiest stretch.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Duke Street and the village lanes, turning over slowly on weekend mornings, so arrive early. Most of the village is walkable, and the beach is downhill the whole way.

Make a day of it

The Sunshine Beach off-leash area north of access 29 is the obvious pairing, and Castaways Beach extends the sand further south. For a second coffee the next morning, Mine is the village's other dog-friendly cafe.
