Myrtle & Blossom

Myrtle & Blossom is a relaxed, community-minded cafe at 1 Loudon Street, Sandgate, on the corner of Brighton Road and opposite the heritage town hall, with a focus on local produce. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it one of the easier sits in central Sandgate with a dog in tow.

The dog setup

The outdoor tables are generally quiet and comfortable, and staff are friendly to dogs and have been known to bring water out unprompted. Indoor seating is not suited to pets, so aim for a corner table outside and settle your dog clear of the footpath flow on Brighton Road. The corner position opposite the town hall means steady foot traffic, which is worth factoring in if your dog is still learning to settle around passers-by.

Worth knowing

The kitchen leans house-made: nitrate-free bacon, hollandaise made on site, sourdough and fresh juices, with a good run of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and almond croissants and scones in the cabinet. It trades Tuesday to Sunday from 7:30am to 2:30pm and closes Mondays, so weekends are the safe bet for a visit and weekdays the quietest.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking runs along Brighton Road and the surrounding streets, and the suburb is flat and walkable, so pairing the cafe with a waterfront lap is easy. The off-lead stretch at Sandgate Foreshore Park is a short walk away, with Shorncliffe Pier another 10 to 15 minutes along the waterfront, and the fenced Curlew Park Fenced Dog Park covers secure off-lead time.
