Charmed by Redfern

Charmed by Redfern takes its corner of Redfern Street with a bright fitout and a 6:30am start, seven days, wrapping at 2pm. The menu runs from bacon and egg rolls and chilli scrambled eggs to confit duck eggs benny, halloumi wraps and banana bread french toast, which puts it a clear rung above the standard commuter stop. The room is small and fills fast, so the street side is where most of the day happens.

Puppuccinos and dog days

The venue site runs dog events with puppuccinos and treats under its Paws and Coffee sessions, and dogs are welcomed in the covered outdoor seating area. Covered outdoor seating is the detail that matters: rain does not end the plan, summer sun does not cook the dog, and the Redfern Street footpath energy stays at arm's length. On a dog event day the strip gets busy with four legged regulars, so a lead with decent manners helps everyone settle. The covered strip runs along the front, so you can keep an eye on the counter while the dog sprawls, and the 6:30am start means the first hour is usually the quietest of the day if your dog prefers a calm room.

The 2pm close across all seven days makes this a breakfast and lunch stop only, and Redfern Street parking is the usual inner Sydney mix of timed metred spots and side street luck. Arriving early puts you ahead of both the brunch queue and the midday foot traffic.
