Bar Lucio(Queens Park)

Bar Lucio is a small Italian-style bakery cafe on the Birrell Street corner in Queens Park, known for sfogliatelle, fresh focaccia and proper coffee. It is a regular stop for dog owners walking to or from Queens Park and Centennial Park.

The dog setup

The indoor space is tight, so dogs take the footpath and outdoor tables. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome there, and staff will usually bring a water bowl out if you ask. Keep your dog tucked in close, since the footpath is a through-route for prams and pedestrians.

Worth knowing

The pastry cabinet is the point: sfogliatelle filled with ricotta, chocolate or custard, bombolini and fresh-baked focaccia, backed by a short breakfast and lunch menu of avo on toast, frittata and salads. Cyclists and the park-walking crowd keep it moving. It opens 6:30am on weekdays and 7am on weekends, closing at 3pm both.

The cafe sits on the Birrell Street corner. Nearby street parking is timed and limited, so expect to circle the block on a busy morning.

Queens Park's off-lead areas and Centennial Parklands are both an easy walk away, which is what makes this a natural coffee stop before or after a run.
